Height: 4m Width: 4m Best feature: Autumn Colour Worst feature: Low habitat value Ideal for: Small gardens or below established canopy |
This deciduous tree provides beautiful autumn colour and grows well under established canopy or close to a building. There are cultivars of this species that are taller and shorter than the wild type. For example, The Coralbark Maple, Acer palmatum ‘Sango-Kaku’ and ‘Bloodgood’ are taller and many grafted weeping ‘Dissectum’ are shorter. Japanese Maples may suffer from scorched leaf tips in hot, windy areas but are otherwise relatively problem free.
