Sustainable Whitehorse

Sustainable Whitehorse is Whitehorse City Council's inspiring program of workshops, activities, webinars and events held at various locations across the municipality. It covers a wide range of topics from low-waste living, thrifty gardening to improving the energy efficiency of your home, connecting with nature and more. Join us in learning, living and growing together as a connected community, caring for our environment and creating a healthy climate for a better future.

Council also offers a range of waste education sessions for community groups, education institutions and faith groups in Whitehorse. If you are interested, please contact wasteteam@whitehorse.vic.gov.au.

healthAbility Repair Cafe

Do you have broken items sitting around your house that, with a simple repair, could be given a new lease on life? Bring them along to the Repair Café and discover how you can get involved!

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is on Sunday 1 March 2026. It’s easy and fun to get involved in this great initiative and create a cleaner, greener Whitehorse. Register your own event or join a local clean up!

Learn & Repair: Introduction to Mending

Learn simple clothing‑repair skills that help reduce textile waste and extend the life of your garments. Jodie from A Fitting Connection will guide you through easy techniques like fixing hems and reattaching buttons, with no sewing experience needed.

Cloth Nappies 101

Join Elana from Cloth Nappy Workshops Melbourne to discover the world of modern cloth nappies. She will take you through everything you need to know to get started with cloth nappies from washing, to buying to tips to extend their life.

Plus, the first 10 people to register (and attend the event on the day!) will receive their own reusable nappy starter pack!
