Terms and Conditions of Competition Entry


The “Whitehorse Think Local Buy Local” Campaign 2025 (Competition) is run and managed by the Investment and Economic Development Unit, Whitehorse City Council, 379-399 Whitehorse Road Nunawading Victoria 3131 (Proponent).
Entries to the Competition are deemed as acceptance of these Terms and Conditions of Entry
Failure by the Proponent to enforce any of its rights under these Terms and Conditions of Entry at any stage, does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
The Proponent may disqualify any entrant deemed not complying with the Terms and Conditions of Entry and the Entry Requirements.

Only receipts from Whitehorse based businesses will be accepted and valid for competition entry. The receipt must be a tax invoice and include the business ABN number. A Whitehorse based business is defined as one, which is located in the Whitehorse Local Government Area. For online businesses, the registered address for the business must be in Whitehorse.

By entering and participating in the Competition, the entrant agrees to hold harmless, defend and indemnify Council from and against any and all claims, demands, liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), losses, costs or expenses, with respect to or arising out of or related to (i) the entrant’s participation in the Competition, or (ii) entrant’s participation in any prize related activities, acceptance of a prize and/or use or misuse of a prize (including, without limitation, any property loss, damage, personal injury or death caused to any person(s)


Promotional period

Competition period runs from 1 August to 29 August 2025.

Entries must be submitted to the Competition during the campaign period from 12.01am on Friday 1 June 2025 to 11.59pm on Friday 29 August 2025.


Eligibility

  • Entry to the Competition is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over.
  • Whitehorse City Council staff, contractors and Councillors and their immediate family members are not eligible for entry to the competition however may participate in the campaign.
  • Business owners or their staff cannot enter a receipt from the business they are associated with. Entry to the Competition is free.

Entry requirements

  • Entry to the Competition is achieved by uploading a receipt of a minimum $10 spend in any Whitehorse business during the competition period.
  • Only receipts from Whitehorse based businesses will be accepted and valid for competition entry. The receipt must include the business ABN number. A Whitehorse based business is defined as one which is located in the Whitehorse Local Government Area. For online businesses, the registered address for the business must be in Whitehorse.
  • Entry to the Competition is achieved by spending a minimum of $10 in a Whitehorse business, completing the online form and uploading the receipt. 
  • All fields of the online form must be completed. The entrant’s contact details and name and location of the Whitehorse based business, must be submitted for the entry to be valid.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries per person, however, each receipt can only be uploaded once during this promotional period.
  • All entries will be reviewed by a Council Officer for compliance with the Entry Requirements.
  • Entries deemed by the Proponent, in its sole discretion, to be in breach of the Terms and Conditions of Entry or the Entry Requirements, will be disqualified from the Competition without further notice.
  • Entrants are not carried over from previous weeks, a new entry is required each week.

 

Winner determinant and prize information

There will be 2 draws for gift vouchers from local Whitehorse businesses to be won, with a combined total pool value of $1,000.
Draw 1 will be drawn on 15 August and constitute entries received between 1-14 August 2025

  • Final Draw will be drawn on 1 September and constitute entries received between 1-29 August 2025
  • Each receipt uploaded will represent one entry into the prize draw for that week with accompanying entrant’s contact details and name and location of the Whitehorse based business.
  • The Proponent will randomly select a winner from the eligible entries received and announce them on the day of the draw on the Whitehorse Business Facebook Page (first name, initial of surname and suburb). Winners will be contacted via email to arrange collection of the gift voucher.
  • If the winners are not contactable to respond to notification that they have won the competition within 7 days of the notification by the Proponent, an unclaimed prize draw will be conducted to determine a new winner as soon as practicable.
  • The entrants of the unclaimed prize draw will comprise of all valid entries from draw 1 and 2 who were not Prize Winners.
  • Gift vouchers can be posted to winners at the entrants own risk or will be available for collection from the Whitehorse Civic
     Centre at 379-399 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading within 14 days of being notified that they have won the draw. Winners should visit www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au to see the Civic Centre opening hours.
  • The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable. No compensation will be payable if the winner is unable to use the prize.

Privacy - Collection Notice


Whitehorse City Council are committed to compliance with its obligations under the Privacy and Data protection Act 2014 (Vic). All personal information collected by Whitehorse City Council will be used for the Council’s business purposes and kept confidential except as permitted in the above Terms and Conditions of Entry. These details will not be disclosed to third parties unless the Council is required to disclose the information under other legislation or disclosure is necessary to complete the purpose for which it is sought. You may access information you have provided to the Council at any time and make corrections if you believe that information is incorrect.
