Council officers have considered all feedback from the community and will present the issues in a future report to Council. As a result, Council will not proceed with the planned gate changes at this time.
Council currently has site signs located at these reserves that outline shared use requirements. It is Council’s expectation that all community members observe and respect the shared use requirements. In particular, dogs are not permitted on these ovals during organised sporting activities (including training sessions) and council maintenance works.
Community members using the oval as a place to exercise their dog off-lead must:
- Carry a lead.
- Have their dog under effective control, always remain within 25 metres of their dog, and be able to recall their dog immediately if needed.
- Control their dog to not cause damage (including digging in the turf) or nuisance to others.
- Ensure that dog poo is responsibly picked up.
Over the next few months Council will monitor the use of these ovals for incidents and the implications of damage caused by dogs.
Council appreciates the community's commitment to ensuring these ovals are safe and well-maintained for all users.
