Works to relocate and upgrade utility services are continuing so the Level Road Crossing Removal team can lower the rail line and remove the level crossings on Union Road and Mont Albert Road. 

Works taking place 

To make way for the rail trench, LXRP will need to relocate electricity poles from the rail side of Beresford Street to the residential side of the street between Mont Albert Road and Earl Close. The new electricity poles will be protected by water barriers until the street kerb is upgraded next year.

What to expect 

On Wednesday 11 May, United Energy and their contractors will temporarily close Beresford Street between Mont Albert Road and High Street, including on-street parking and driveway access to the properties at 6 and 8 Beresford Street. Vehicle access to properties east of Earle Close will be maintained via High Street. 

On-street parking on the western side of Earle Close will also be temporarily closed for the day. A detour will be in place via High Street, Trafalgar Street, Gordon Street and Mont Albert Road. 

The footpath will remain open and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained. 

On Wednesday 11 May, there will be a power outage associated with these works.

Works will be undertaken by the service authority United Energy and their contractors. They will provide you with further details, including information about any interruption to the power supply and how to contact them if you have further queries about their works.

During these works, you will also notice: 

• Construction noise and activity, with vehicles, machinery and workers on site 
• Minor delays for vehicles and changes to pedestrian and cyclist routes 
• Traffic management to keep you and our workers safe 

Please be aware that works can sometimes take longer than expected due to weather and other factors outside of LXRP control.
