A construction site will be set up.
Works taking place
A construction site will be set up along the rail corridor in Churchill Street to start work on relocating the Combined Services Route (CSR). The CSR consists of a number of electrical conduits for rail signalling, communication, and power cables to enable trains to travel on the rail line. The CSR needs to be relocated and upgraded before work can start on excavating the trench and building the new station.
The CSR works will commence on Monday 14 February, and will include the installation of traffic controls and concrete barriers along Churchill Avenue to ensure works can be undertaken safely.
There will be an increase in construction vehicles and machinery accessing the area.
This work will be ongoing throughout 2022.
Mont Albert commuter car parking
From 7am Monday 14 February, Mont Albert Station all-day commuter parking along Churchill Street will close. While the car parks are closed, additional free parking will be available at Ace Parking, Level B2, 990 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill to allow passengers to catch their preferred Belgrave and Lilydale lines express train services. To access this car park please register your details to receive your entry and exit pass at commuter.aceparking.com.au
Accessible car spaces are available at Canterbury Station.
What to expect
From 7am Monday 14 February, the eastbound lane on Churchill Street (heading towards Elgar Road) will be temporarily closed. Access to properties will be maintained via the westbound lane.
This arrangement will be in place for approximately five weeks (day and night), however, works are subject to suitable weather conditions.
Local detours will be in place during this period (see map below).
During this time:
- Road traffic barriers and bollards will be installed along Churchill Street to create a safe work zone
- On-street car parking along Churchill Street will be temporarily closed to enable traffic to be maintained in the westbound direction (from Elgar Road to Stanhope Street)
- Traffic management staff will be in place and some minor delays may be experienced while these works are carried out
- Access to driveways will be maintained, some delays may be expected
Other impacts of these works include:
- Construction noise and activity, with vehicles, machinery and workers on site
- Minor delays for vehicles
- Traffic management to keep you and our workers safe
Road users are advised to drive with care and follow the direction of traffic control and signage in place.
The majority of work will take place during normal construction hours, 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am – 1pm on Saturdays. Further notice will be provided if any works need to take place outside of these times.
Please be aware that works can sometimes take longer than expected due to weather and other factors.
