Secondary School Immunisation Program

We visit high schools for Year 7 and Year 10 students. It is recommended that all students are vaccinated according to the National Immunisation Program.

How to give consent

At the start of the school year, your child's high school will tell you about the Secondary School Immunisation Program.

Consent can be given online via a link the school will provide.

If you don’t want your child to be vaccinated, you still need to complete the online form. This helps us ensure each child has an opportunity to receive the recommended vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program.

If you don’t receive the information about the school immunisation program, you need to contact your school.

If you'd like to receive the paper-based consent forms, please contact the immunisation team on 9262 6197 or immunisation@whitehorse.vic.gov.au

Recommended immunisations

Year 7

Two vaccines are recommended in Year 7:

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine

Year 10

Only the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine is recommended in Year 10.

Find out more about HPV, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis and Meningococcal ACWY on the Secondary School Immunisation Program - Better Health Channel.

If your child missed their vaccination at school, you can attend one of Council’s public immunisation sessions.
