About The Haus

The developers are an eco-conscience renovation duo making their mark on the design and building industry. Instead of succumbing to the trend of knockdown rebuilds, they embrace a conscientious approach to building by renovating to minimise waste and embodied energy in the construction process.

Their home received a deep energy retrofit (EnerPHit), which uses Passive House principles to prioritise energy efficiency, comfort and affordability that transformed their leaky 1950s weatherboard home into one of Australia's highest performing homes. Passivhaus is a voluntary building standard that prioritises the building envelope to create a home that requires little to no heating and cooling, a home that eliminates dust and allergens and is comfortable to live in all year round. Their renovation journey was showcased on Grand Designs Australia (Grand Designs Transformations : ABC iview) and they have been featured on ABC News, Domain, Architecture Australia and more. They are passionate about being able to use their platform to educate and showcase how reuse and careful material selection can benefit the environment.

Their home presents as a modern cottage and has a homely and calming feel with the use of repurposed materials and a colour palette inspired by nature. It boasts a thoughtfully curated palette of reclaimed materials including recycled timber flooring, recycled timber from the layout changes to make custom vanities, reuse of bricks from the existing home into the landscape, recycled fencing, window sills made from the homes old hanging beams, fencing made from scrap timber, façade cladding made from weathertex a carbon negative product and also the homes old roof battens, sustainably sourced timber for the pergola and much more.
