Introducing...The Round. A place to celebrate, entertain, create and connect. 

We are excited to announce The Round as the name of the redeveloped Whitehorse performing arts centre. 

The Round signals an inclusive, intimate and welcoming space reflected in the curved nature of the architecture. The space is designed to be viewed with 360 degree appeal, providing a wonderful outlook for venue attendees and users of the surrounding parklands.

The new contemporary performing arts venue will build upon the legacy of the former Whitehorse Centre. It will bring what the community loved and valued into a new era. 

The venue will provide an expanded array of arts and cultural opportunities for the entire Whitehorse community to enjoy for generations to come. 

The Round will feature a 600+ seat auditorium, 200 seat studio theatre, creative rehearsal studios, improved soundshell for outdoor events and improved car parking for the precinct. It will be able to host an expanded range of shows, functions and events. 

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-late 2023. We are looking forward to celebrating the opening of The Round with our Whitehorse community next year.

Setting the stage for environmentally - sustainable design

The Round will include a range of environmentally-sustainable design (ESD) features designed to reduce emissions, save water and minimise waste.

ESD features include:

• Solar panels on the roof
• Stormwater pollutant filtration system 
• LED and solar lighting
• Double-glazed windows
• Rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing 
• Water-efficient fixtures, fittings and storm water system
• Efficient thermal building performance
• Energy-efficient plant and equipment 
• Landscape treatments, such as rain gardens and warm season grasses
• Recycling facilities and waste minimisation initiatives
• Provision for future electric vehicle chargers
