It covers a wide range of topics from low-waste living, thrifty gardening to improving the energy efficiency of your home, connecting with nature and more. Join us in learning, living and growing together as a connected community, caring for our environment and creating a healthy climate for a better future.

Toy Swap and Toy Hospital
Are your children’s toys no longer being used or have they outgrown them? Bring them along to our Toy Swap and exchange them for something new to enjoy.

Find out what happens to Whitehorse food and garden organic waste once it is collected. This educational tour is being run at Bio Gro’s state of the art organics recovery facility.

Natural Environment Showcase - Seniors Festival
Discover more about the natural environment and sustainability in Whitehorse. Hear about current projects and opportunities to get involved.
In the delightful setting of Blackburn Lake Sanctuary Visitor Centre, meet staff and volunteers to find our more about what's going on in Whitehorse.
The Showcase will include:
- Gardens for Wildlife
- Sustainability & Waste
- Environmental Education
- Environmental Volunteering
- Park Advisory Committees and Friends Groups
Short guided walks of Blackburn Lake Sanctuary will leave at 10.15am, 10.45am, 11.15am and 11.45am for those more active.
Refreshments will be available.
Mend & Mingle
Learn practical skills to repair and extend the life of your clothing in our hands-on visible mending and sewing repair workshops. From creative techniques like sashiko stitching and decorative patching to everyday essentials such as sewing on buttons and hemming, you'll gain the confidence to keep your favourite garments in use for longer.
When: Saturday 10 October, 10 – 11.30 am & 12-1pm (2 sessions)
