Council received the positive news from the Minister for Planning of a further extension to SLO9 until 16 June 2026.

SLO9 works to protect trees on all land included in the Neighbourhood Residential Zone (NRZ), General Residential Zone (GRZ), Residential Growth Zone (RGZ) and Low Density Residential Zone (LDRZ) that was not already covered by the existing SLO1-8. 

SLO9 has remained interim while the State Government completes a review of vegetation controls in the Victoria Planning Provisions. This review is intended to establish a State-wide approach on how planning tools for tree protection are used. 

Council will continue to advocate for SLO9 to be approved on a permanent basis to protect the neighbourhood character of the municipality.
