Join Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra, Australia’s longest-running non-profit Chinese orchestra, for a free concert and interactive workshop on Sunday, 12 July 2026 at St Scholastica’s Community Centre, Bennettswood.
Led by conductor Mr Yat Ping Chan, audiences will be introduced to the structure of a Chinese orchestra and the unique sounds of traditional instruments including the dizi, xiao, sheng, suona, yangqin, liuqin, pipa, sanxian, ruan, guzheng, erhu and Chinese percussion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view many of these instruments up close and learn about their history, construction and musical roles.
The program features popular works including Iron-Blood and Loyal Heart, Chrysanthemum Terrace, Weishan Lake and Shanghai Bund, together with solo and ensemble performances.
Suitable for all ages and backgrounds. Admission is free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
