Councillor update from Cr Jarrod Gunnfor June/July 2026
A number of improvements to Terrara Park are nearing completion, making this much-loved community asset available more often for more users. Motion detection lighting has uplifted use of the space of an evening, resulting in increased passive activity and safety outside of club use.
The perimeter walking track (pictured) has also resulted in increased use of otherwise underutilised areas of the park and has created a safer (and less wet!) walking experience for all. Keep a look out as next steps will be for improvements to the playground and active play space. Similar lighting upgrades are underway at Billabong Park,
while play space upgrades to Tyrol Park will commence construction later in 2026.
Council officers and contractors have also been busy at East Burwood Reserve with velodrome upgrades, while the redevelopment of the south pavilion, cricket nets and internal road access is also underway.
I am pleased to advise of proposed changes to Council’s Tree Management Policy (for trees on Council land). Many residents have been calling out for greater flexibility and I am grateful that officers have responded with some amendments that will go out for consultation soon.
Speaking of trees, I am loving the colours of the leaves as we enter winter, signifying the constant of change and renewal. Just beautiful.
My door knocking has slowed down due to weather and work commitments, but I intend to get across the entire ward throughout 2026 — I hope to speak with you soon.
As always, if you have any concerns or ideas I would love to hear from you.
