Jeu’s garden has become a little neighbourhood for possums. After noticing these furry visitors making regular appearances, she wanted to make her garden a more welcoming place for them. With a little help from a Gardens for Wildlife visit, she gave an old possum drey a makeover and added a wildlife pond to her front garden.

The drey soon found its first tenant. Jeu moved it to a shady spot high in the only tree in her garden, and before long, a little Ringtail Possum had moved in. It seems the new home had received a very positive review! 

But the story didn’t end there. When Jeu checked her night camera, she spotted a much chunkier visitor trying to squeeze into the same drey — a Brushtail Possum! To solve the possum housing crisis, Jeu hung a second, larger drey in the same tree, hoping both possums could have a home.

And it worked! There was just one funny surprise. Despite being the larger possum, the Brushtail chose to stay in the cosy little drey, while the Ringtail claimed the bigger house. Later on, the two possums seemed to share both dreys, just not at the same time!
