Whitehorse City Council is pleased to announce the recent launch of WeChat account, named “Councillors Whitehorse.”

With more than 13% of the Whitehorse population born in China, the launch of WeChat aligns with Council’s social media strategy in reaching our Chinese community.  

In 2023, Council conducted qualitative research into how Chinese residents in Whitehorse use WeChat. It was identified that WeChat is the most used Chinese social media platform for both personal and business activities.  

The newly registered WeChat account marks a pivotal milestone in Council’s commitment to engaging with our Chinese communities.  

This WeChat account will be used as a channel to inform, connect, and serve our diverse communities with regular updates about Council initiatives, events, and news. 

We continue to explore all options to increase Council’s engagement with all of our residents.
