Federal Government funding has been secured, to improve safety on Mont Albert Road, between Elgar Road and Bourke Road. 

To improve safety for everyone using the road, the speed limit will be reduced from 60 to 50 kilometres per hour. 

This section of Mont Albert Road has been identified as a high-risk road corridor with a history of serious road incidents. 

The funding has been awarded through the Federal Government’s 2026-27 Black Spot Program which supports road safety across Australia. 

Works to reduce the speed limit will roll out over the next 2 financial years.

The works will also involve replacing the existing school speed limit signs with electronic variable signs.
