Did you know Council is contributing to a circular economy? We’re moving away from the traditional ‘take, make, use and dispose’ system towards a 'share, repair, reuse and recycle' model.
Our Council Nursery is a great example as it has multiple well-established circular economy systems onsite where they grow all their plants from seeds, clean and reuse all their plastic pots for growing plants, and capture storm water to reuse for watering.
They've been able to grow over 40,000 plants and save 500,000 pots per year, which means buying less pots and plants. When pots reach their end of life, they are recycled locally and made into new pots. It’s a complete circular model!
