Homes built in Whitehorse before the late 1940s may experience ongoing surface maintenance issues and flooding because some developers did not build the appropriate infrastructure.
While the cost of building a new road and drainage is the responsibility of the property owners adjoining the road, Council can provide a scheme to manage the construction work and the costs can be paid in instalments. This scheme is called a Street Improvement Scheme.
Once the new road is constructed to Council’s standard, Council will take over responsibility for future maintenance and repairs.
