Would you like your students to participate in Environmental Volunteering in Whitehorse?
The Whitehorse Environmental Education Program can work with schools and groups to give back to the local environment.
Recent Environmental Volunteering events include:
- Kingswood College Year 3 and 4 students helped to spread mulch at a National Tree Planting Day site at Gardiners Creek. Following this, they enjoyed some mindfullness activities and morning tea before walking back to school.
- Blackburn Lake Primary School Year 5 and 6 students helped to prepare a site for future revegetation works. They enthusiastically pulled out small weeds with tools that were provided and helped to spread mulch. A short time later the site was visited by a large and grateful Blue Tongue Lizard and countless Common Brown Butterflies.
- Box Hill High School Year 10 students yearly visit Blackburn Lake Sanctuary to learn about the importance of volunteering and participating in their community. Students also hear about how they are making a valuable contribution to the the local environment thanks to the litter removal, mulching, weeding and planting works that they take part in.
Please contact the Environmental Education Officers via email Enviro.Ed@Whitehorse.vic.gov.au to discuss Environmental Volunteering opportunities with your group.
