Whether it is called child care, kindergarten, preschools, a developmental learning centre, a child development centre, an early childhood learning centre or long day-care Whitehorse has many child care centres spread across the City.

Whitehorse City Council has three Early Childhood Education and Care Centres offering Long Day Care and Funded Kindergarten education.

Schools

Whitehorse has many of the region’s leading private (independent) and public primary and secondary schools, that support the liveability of the city and attraction to investors, business and community.

Tertiary Education

Deakin University is located in Burwood and is a dynamic university with a reputation for being innovative. It offers a personalised education experience, enhanced by innovative digital engagement.

Box Hill Institute is a leading Victorian vocational and higher education provider. It offers a wide variety of courses from apprenticeships to degrees and short courses to diplomas.

University of the 3^rd Age (U3A) is a voluntary community organisation which supports positive ageing by providing low-cost learning opportunities and social interaction for retired and semi-retired members of the community to encourage them to stay active and engaged. There are three U3A sites in the City of Whitehorse It is located at the Nunawading Community Hub.

Box Hill Hospital provides state of the art public hospital services including:

Epworth Eastern is a leading private hospital located in Box Hill which focuses on:

• cardiac
• vascular
• orthopaedic and general surgery
• oncology
• urology, and
• endoscopy services.

Blackburn Public Surgical Centre (Formerly Bellbird Private Hospital) which focuses on:

• general surgery
• gynaecology
• Note: This hospital does not accept emergency admissions.

Mitcham Private Hospital is a fully accredited acute medical, surgical, maternity and mental health facility.
