Sustainable Living 2024 is Whitehorse City Council's inspiring program of workshops, activities, webinars and events held at various locations across Whitehorse throughout 2024. It covers a wide range of topics from low waste living, thrifty gardening to improving the energy efficiency of your home, connecting with nature and more.

Family Mosaics - Garden Paver

Families create a colourful, unique garden paver together to brighten your garden, while learning mosaic techniques. This workshop runs over 2 sessions. 

When: Wednesday 15 January 10am - 1pm & Friday 17th January 10am - 11.30am

healthAbility Repair Cafe Whitehorse - December

Do you have broken items sitting around your house that, with a simple repair, would be given a new lease of life? Bring them to the healthAbility Repair Cafe Whitehorse! Second Saturday of each month (except January).

When: Saturday 14 December
Time: 10am-2pm
Where: Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct, Forest Hill

Edible Garden Workshop for Kids

Kids will make seed pots, plant seeds, learn about seedlings, and explore insects while digging up and investigating soil with magnifying glasses.

Age: 6-9 years

Garden Fairies and Guardians Capes Workshop

Preschools accompanied by an adult will decorate cardboard wings and capes using flowers, leaves and paper. Then wear them for a magical garden adventure!

Age: 3-5 years

Family Treasure Hunt

Calling all kid detectives! Discover local history and creatures that live at Strathdon House. Families, bring your own picnic and rug, so you can stay on afterwards to enjoy the beautiful grounds. 

When: Friday 17 January 11am - 12pm & families invited to stay on for a picnic. 
Where: Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct
Age: 5-12 years old, children must be accompanied by a responsible guardian
Cost: $18
