In the City of Whitehorse, the Forest Hill Chase Community Space (known simply as The Space) has quickly become a vibrant hub where people come together to learn, share, and support one another. Since opening in 2022, over 400 people each week find friendship, creativity, and encouragement.
Proudly created by Whitehorse Churches Care — a network of 28 local churches — together with Forest Hill Chase Centre Management (Haben), this volunteer-driven initiative reduces social isolation and nurtures wellbeing across our community.
What You’ll Find at The Space
The Space offers programs and activities that reflect the talents, interests, and needs of our local community, including:
* Learning and Connection: English and Mandarin conversation classes, homework club, IT help for phones and computers, opportunities to chat
* Creative and Social Activities: painting, knitting, crochet, card games, chess, and more
* Music and Joy: a weekly singalong drawing 80–100 participants, the “Just Sing” community choir, and live music events twice a week
* Support Networks: partnering with Victoria Police to host the Whitehorse Community Support Register, which makes weekly welfare calls to over 100 elderly residents
* Special Events: collaborations with local organisations including Whitehorse Council and Manningham Libraries, plus engaging school holiday activities and workshops on a wide range of topics
* Art exhibitions from local organisations and churches
More Than a Space – A Community
The Space is a place where everyone belongs. By creating genuine opportunities for social connection, it helps combat loneliness, reduce isolation, and support mental health in tangible ways. Whether you’re seeking friendship, learning, creativity, or simply a safe place to feel welcome, you’ll find it at the Forest Hill Community Space.
Come and experience the difference. Together, we are creating connection — building community — inspiring hope.
