About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us for this walk led by Tony Slater, experienced botanist and native orchid specialist and the author of A Guide to the Eucalypts of Whitehorse and Surrounds. Tony has over 40 years of experience in botanical research, including the study of native orchids and Australian flora, and a strong understanding of taxonomy and ecology.

Bring your camera or phone and upload your observations during the walk to iNaturalist to be part of the 2025 City Nature Challenge.

This event is in collaboration with the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary Parkland Advisory Committee, for the City Nature Challenge, an event to gather observation data about the species inhabiting our natural world. This is your chance to learn about all the plants and animals that live in our Whitehorse parks and reserves! Spots are limited so be sure to register your attendance.

We will be meeting at the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary Visitor Centre for a 10am start. The visitor centre can be accessed from the carpark off Central Road, opposite Gwenda Ave.

You can find more information on the City Nature Challenge here

*The event will be cancelled in case of extreme weather or total fire ban please check your emails on the day.*
