You can now get a 10-cent refund through the Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) for eligible drink containers. The scheme supports the community, environment and circular economy by improving recycling, reducing litter by up to half and creating jobs and opportunities across Victoria, including for charities and community groups.
It is easy to take part, with a network of refund points across Victoria. In Whitehorse, the network operator is Visy, which manages several types of refund points:
- High-speed depot: 2/34-42 Rooks Road, Nunawading. State-of-the-art sorting machines count large numbers of containers in one go, making it suitable for residents and businesses such as hotels, restaurants and catering venues.
- Reverse vending machines: Located at Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre, Brentford Square (Forest Hill), Blackburn Square Shopping Centre, World Vision Burwood East and Box Hill Central Shopping Centre. These standalone machines scan and verify eligible containers for a refund.
- Over-the-counter refund points: Located at participating businesses where you can return containers directly to staff for a refund.
