Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest community-based environmental event. Residents, schools, community groups and businesses in Whitehorse can join together with hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country for this great initiative. Clean Up Australia Day is generally held on the first Sunday of March each year.

Each year, up to 130,000 tonnes of plastic finds its way into our waterways and oceans. Clean Up Australia Day is an opportunity to come together, roll our sleeves up and tidy up the beautiful open spaces we have and treasure in Whitehorse.

Clean Up Australia Day is fun and everyone can get involved. Individuals and local groups can either organise a Clean Up site – such as a park, waterway or bushland area – or volunteer to join an existing site.

Please be advised that Council no longer runs a Clean Up Australia Day event at Lookout Trail Park due to snake activity in the area. To find alternative clean up events in your area, visit www.cleanup.org.au.

Love Our Street - Community Clean Up Groups

Love Our Street groups are made up of community members who come together to volunteer their time to collect litter from surrounding streets at a regular time each month. Their goal is to reduce litter in our streets so that litter is not collected in our local waterways, beaches and oceans.

To start a local Love Our Street group, contact Beach Patrol Australia at admin@beachpatrol.com.au to learn how to set up your local chapter.
