On Wednesday 15 October, the Whitehorse Sport and Recreation Awards were presented at a ceremony held at The Round. The awards were presented by paralympic gold medallist Carol Cooke AM.
The awards acknowledge the hard work and dedication of local athletes, sporting clubs, recreation groups, their leaders and volunteers across the City of Whitehorse, as well as the important role and contribution they make to the community.
These awards are open to anyone who lives or is a member of a sporting or recreation club or team within the City of Whitehorse.
- Participant of the Year: Ben White - KBH Brumbies Hockey Club
- Junior Participant of the Year: Angus Carson – Heads of State / Ultimate Frisbee
- Participant of the Year with a Disability: Emily Shiell and James Shiell - Surrey Park Swimming Club
- Masters Participant of the Year: Rachel Williams – DCT Run Crew
- Team of the Year: Melbourne Phoenix Heads of State Frisbee
- Official of the Year: Patrick White - Baseball
- Sports Club of the Year: Box Hill Hawks Football Club
- Volunteer of the Year: Kim Marrone - Whitehorse United Soccer Club
- Junior Volunteer of the Year: Alex Ginaylo - Judo Victoria and Rebellion Muay Thai
- Coach/Leader of the Year: Chris Clark - Vermont Football Club
- Women in Community Leadership: Kristy Sanbrook – Mitcham Junior Football Club
- Recreation Group of the Year: Gardiners Creek Parkrun
- Sport and Recreation Initiative of the Year: NYP Dragons Water Polo Club
- 2025 Women in Sport Leadership Program Award: Chiara McDowell - Blackburn NewHope Soccer Club

These awards would not be possible without the community spirit of nominators who took the time to celebrate their neighbours, teammates, and coaches. Behind the scenes, the dedicated volunteers of the Whitehorse Sport and Recreation Reference Group invested countless hours carefully considering each of the 60+ nominations.
These awards celebrate the collective spirit that makes Whitehorse such an active, connected community.
