Fixing footpaths sooner

I was pleased to support an update of the Road Management Plan with an investment of $250,000 to reduce the times to fix footpaths. I have heard that local footpaths and roads are a key priority of the community.

Active transport

Thank you for your responses to the Whitehorse Integrated Transport Strategy consultation. I look forward to implementing ways to increase the level of safer cycling in Whitehorse.

Budget 2026/2027

If you have any areas I need to focus on for Whitehorse Council Budget 2026/2027, please make contact with me by 10 November so I can advocate for you.

Council has adopted its Road Management Plan, voting to keep the 15mm vertical displacement threshold and to shorten remediation timeframes for footpath defects. This has come from community feedback raised with me many times.

I attended the 4-Bins Popup in Blackburn Square to listen to what the community thinks about changes to rubbish collection and the State Government glass bin. The feedback I heard was overwhelmingly in favour of not rolling out the glass (purple) bin.

If I can assist in any way contact me via email, phone, or Facebook.

“How are public areas at Burwood Brickworks maintained?”

The developer is responsible for maintaining most public areas, including the village green and pond. These spaces will be handed over to the Council in stages during the next few years. Council will only accept these assets once they meet strict quality standards – a process underway.

Orchard Grove Primary Oval Fencing

To manage student safety, the school and Department of Education plan to install a 1.8m chain-link fence around their land (west oval and central pitch). Council is actively working with the school to minimise community impacts.

Local voices create change

Thanks to resident Ruth Murphy's request, a new dog waste bin is installed at Holland Gully dog off-leash area (in the dip between two enormous speed bumps at Holland Rd park).

Stay active for free

I’ve joined the popular Burwood Brickworks Mall Walkers (Wednesday 8.30am, Thursday 7.30am) who meet outside Hollow Community space. Led by superstar Chrissy Dunienville, these light exercise/dance sessions welcome all abilities. Alternatively, the Heart Foundation Walking Group meets every Wed 9.30am near Eley Park Tennis Club.

Infrastructure and reporting

Ballyshannassy Reserve’s on-demand lighting is completed. Snap, Send, Solve to help fix our roads, paths, graffiti and dumped rubbish!

Recent projects now ready to be enjoyed year-round include the oval lighting and new netball court at Springfield Park, lights on Bushy Creek path and hockey space at Elgar Park with a new flexible design allowing for multipurpose use. Please don’t hesitate to start a social sport or activity in these spaces anytime, all ages and all abilities welcome.

Open space is a premium as our city continues to densify.

DENSITY + OPEN SPACE = LIVABILITY

Council recently voted unanimously to enter negotiations for purchase of all/part of the Box Hill Brickworks for Open Space. 6900+ petition signatures support this land as parkland.

Recently in Hamilton Street, one-way traffic was implemented, plus school holiday Spring Treasure Hunts and Halloween celebrations were held.

I hosted the Mental Health Lunch at Box Hill Institute and launched “Anthology of Bedford Writings”.

Look out for the Kingsley Community Safety Forum and Hamilton Street Christmas Jazz on 12 December.
