Activities galore at Whitehorse summer holiday programs

13 Dec 2018

A great range of fun and educational activities will be held across Whitehorse during the coming summer school holidays to keep children safe, entertained and enjoying themselves.

Whitehorse Councillor Tina Liu said affordable, entertaining and educational activities catering for all interests and age groups will run at Council venues throughout January.

“The long summer holidays can be a tricky time for parents who work through January or for families wanting some safe, supervised activities for their children,” Cr Liu said.

“Council realises this so offers free and low-cost activities at many of its great venues, with sports, excursions, art, crafts and outdoor activities available.”

Activities include:

Box Hill Community Arts Centre – Workshops and activities cover cartooning, iPad drawing, working with clay, comic art and more. Book early as places fill quickly!

Sportlink – A holiday program run by Kelly Sports covers soccer, football, cricket, hockey and other sports as well as crazy games, karate and dancing clinics.

Council’s Parkswide Nature Play Program – Get outdoors and have an adventure and learn about local habitats. There is the Bush Detectives session, Homes and Hollows exploration and Australian Animals at the Lake at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.

Aqualink Box Hill and Aqualink Nunawading – Chill Zone, Team Holiday, Toptenn Tennis and No Limits Basketball operate out of Aqualink Box Hill, while inflatables and the Tarzan rope will be set up at Aqualink Nunawading.

Morack Golf Course and Driving Range – Have fun at beginner and intermediate junior golf clinics. Supervised practice sessions, swing lessons, putting competition and more.
