Forest Hill chicken gains 5 Stars

5 Jul 2018

The Charcoal Chicken store at Brentford Square in Forest Hill has been nominated for Council’s monthly 5-Star Food Hygiene Focus for July after achieving exceptional standards in food hygiene and safety.

Whitehorse Councillor Bill Bennett said the take away food outlet was assessed under Council’s 5 Star Food Hygiene Assessment (FHA) Reward and Recognition Program.

“This program aims to improve the safety of food manufactured, handled, stored and sold in the municipality,” Cr Bennett said.

“The food services team at Charcoal Chicken is clearly diligent when it comes to food handling practices. Congratulations on this 5-Star achievement!”

Charcoal Chicken is located at 3 Brentford Square, Forest Hill

All food businesses achieving a 5 star rating are promoted in Council publications and are eligible for the prestigious Food Premises of the Year Award.

Food Premises of the Year fall under three categories:
• Class 1 (e.g. Aged Care, Child Care, Hospitals etc.)
• Class 2 (e.g. Restaurant, Cafe, Take-Away, Delicatessen, Bakery, Supermarket)
• Community Groups (e.g. School Canteens)
The Food Hygiene Assessment (FHA) and its star rating performance system informs Council, food business proprietors and consumers about the standard of food safety being achieved in the municipality.

Council’s online portal is a user-friendly listing of food premises in Whitehorse and their star ratings, open to the public.
