Explore what litter does when it hits our waterways and what you can do about the problem in the next event in Council’s free Smarter Living Workshop series.
Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Bill Bennett said the “Effects Litter Has on Our Waterways” workshop will be run by expert Neil Blake OAM from the Port Phillip EcoCentre.
“This promises to be an informative and inspiring evening, looking at the devastation litter such as plastics, packaging, household rubbish and more can cause to Melbourne’s waterways,” Cr Bennett said.
“The best part, though, is that Neil will guide us in ways to protect our waterways and eliminate waste from entering the system for the benefit of people, flora and fauna. He will also address ways to lower the use of plastics in our lives in general.”
Neil, founding director of the EcoCentre, has been widely recognised and loved by the community for three decades for his deep knowledge, personable character, and extensive experience in environmental management, local history, biodiversity and community development.
Neil is the Port Phillip baykeeper for the global Waterkeeper Alliance, providing an independent voice for the bay and its inhabitants.
