Applications for Council’s Community Grants program for 2019/2020 are now open and Council has a new and efficient online application system, SmartyGrants, to make the process an easy one.
Whitehorse councillor Andrew Davenport said community groups running programs or activities that meet the grant criteria and benefit the wider Whitehorse community were eligible for a grant.
“This is a major way that we support our not-for-profit community groups each year, and the grants really make a difference to the life and future of the group,” Cr Davenport said.
“Organisations can put their funding towards a wide variety of initiatives such as social programs for pre-schoolers and adults, sport and recreation, health and wellbeing, and social support programs for older people.”
Grants in previous years have provided support to enhance a range of services, programs and activities including neighbourhood houses, toy libraries, seniors groups and community festivals.
Minor equipment purchases are also funded under the scheme, to the value of $1500.
SmartyGrants is an efficient and user-friendly online application system that replaces the paper application system of the past.
