Nominations are now open for the Whitehorse Sport and Recreation Australia Day Trophy, presented by the Mayor each year as part of Council’s Australia Day celebrations.
Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Andrew Davenport said the trophy was awarded annually to a sporting club, recreation club or community group based in the City of Whitehorse.
“This trophy is a great way to recognise the outstanding efforts made by a not-for-profit club or group and the contribution they make to the Whitehorse community,” Cr Davenport said.
“Council is proud to award the work done towards creating a project or providing opportunities that have benefitted the broader Whitehorse community. To have such an award being part of Australia Day celebrations makes it particularly special.”
Winning efforts can come in many forms, from fundraising and charity work to giving disadvantaged groups in the community an opportunity to become involved with a sporting club or group.
Winning efforts are often unique and not necessarily part of the general ongoing operations of a club. They can include such things as tutoring for club members doing VCE, a charity match, fundraising or cultural activities.
Support your local club or community group and help them get noticed for all their hard work and effort!
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 5 November 2018.
