A stunning studio and solo exhibition awaits - applications open for coveted Artist in Residence pr

Applications are now open for Box Hill Community Arts Centre’s (BHCAC) coveted Artist in Residence program.

Whitehorse Councillor Sharon Ellis said the light-filled Garden Room or Artists’ Loft at BHCAC is home to an artist in residence each year.

“The 2019 program allows the successful applicant to produce a project to benefit the local community, the artist themselves, and the centre,” Cr Ellis said.

“The popular Artist in Residence program had attracted a range of artists in past years, including those involved in painting, collage, installation art, ceramics and textiles.”

The chosen artist in residence, who will be an established or emerging practising artist, will also be offered the opportunity to hold an exhibition of their work created during the program at BHCAC, one of Whitehorse’s leading arts facilities.

“This is a great chance for an artist to get to know the local community and to take advantage of the centre’s professional exhibition space, vibrant arts scene, accomplished tutors on site and fabulous studio complete with storage,’’ Cr Ellis said.

Applications to join the program for 2019 close on 27 July 2018.
