Nominate now: Whitehorse Sustainability Awards 2017

16 Mar 2017

Nominations for this year’s Whitehorse Sustainability Awards are now open.

Whitehorse Councillor Prue Cutts said the awards were designed to acknowledge the work of local residents, schools, community groups and businesses making an effort to lead and promote sustainable lifestyles.

“The awards are a wonderful way to recognise the hard work of local individuals and groups who genuinely care about sustainability and preserving our environment for future generations. This work can take many forms and the awards will reward a range of sustainability initiatives,” Cr Cutts said.

You can nominate yourself or a group you belong to, or nominate an individual or group on their behalf. Those who put up a nominee go in the running to win a $100 gift card.

“The awards are an important part of the Whitehorse Sustainable Living Week beginning on 26 May this year. If you know someone who has a productive food garden, a local business that has gone the extra mile to support the community or an educational institution that has completed an energy or water-saving project, get a nomination in!” Cr Cutts said.

Winners will share more than $3000 in prizes to help them continue their environmental journey.

Award categories include:

  • Kitchen Garden Award
  • Sustainable Household Award
  • Young Sustainable Champion Award
  • Education Award
  • Business Award for Community Contribution
